Midwives
"Midwife" means "with woman" and our midwives are just that, working with women to achieve wonderful, empowering births.
Our midwives work in very small, tightly-integrated teams to provide your care, a concept we call Team Midwifery. You'll get to know them just as you would a small circle of friends. There are many advantages of Team Midwifery over single-midwife care, but the most important is that through it, we can provide you with exceptionally warm and personal care while bringing many resources you would not have with a single midwife.
All BetterBirthLLC midwives are nationally certified (Certified Professional Midwives) and licensed by the State of Utah.
Midwives
Trinette Thompson, CPM LDEM
Trinette received her midwifery training and graduated from Midwives College of Utah. She remains active in special projects for the college. Trinette is an extraordinarily compassionate and attentive midwife, with a specialty in herbal and homeopathic modalities. She lives in Saratoga Springs with her husband and six children, all homeborn.
Suzanne Smith, CPM LDEM
Suzanne holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Midwifery from the Midwives College of Utah, a Bachelor's degree in Human Biology from Stanford University, and was the first licensed direct-entry midwife in Utah. She founded BetterBirthLLC in 1994, and lives in Orem with her husband and two children. Suzanne habla español.
Jeanetta Booth, CPM LDEM
Jeanetta received her training at Casa de Nacimiento in El Paso, TX where she rose through the ranks from student to Senior Midwife. Jeanetta speaks Spanish, and has outstanding skills and a very gentle manner. She lives in Salt Lake City.
Sarah Carter, CPM LDEM
After many years as a childbirth educator (Birthing From Within) and a doula extraordinaire, Sarah finally took the plunge and became a midwife. She completed much of her clinical training here at BetterBirth, so we are well acquainted with just how good a midwife she is. Sarah is very easy to talk to and really knows how to support a woman in labor.
Ester Werbach, DEM
Ester was born and raised in Argentina. She worked as a licensed midwife in Buenos Aires for 10 years before emigrating to the United States in 1999. She practiced in both high-volume, low-income hospital settings (sometimes delivering 30 babies a day!) and more luxurious and leisurely private clinics (only 1-2 deliveries a day). She loves the type of out-of-hospital births we do here at BetterBirthLLC. Ester has an accent, but don't let that fool you. She is a very intelligent, skilled, and experienced midwife! She lives in Orem with her husband and three children.
Practice Goddess
Carrie Ann wears so many hats here at BetterBirth that we struggled to find the right title for her. You may see her most often in her capacity of Office Manager, but her talents don't stop there. She is a paramedic (worked on Life Flight and in the emergency room for several years), and she helps us with many clinical procedures. She is a CPR instructor, and serves as a skills instructor for our student workshops as well as being our Student Program Director. We settled on the title "Practice Goddess" when "The One We Can't Live Without" was too long. If you need something, start with Carrie Ann. Odds are, she's in charge of it.
